Charity Day at Bleach Mill Saturday 8 July
Sue and Simon Richmond are having their annual open house Charity Day at Bleach Mill this coming Saturday 8 July from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. This year will be to raise funds for Charlotte Wormald, a ten year old Menston girl with severe cerebral palsy that affects all four limbs. The aim is to raise enough for a new electro suit called Mollii which helps reduce the spasticity in her limbs. It has to be replaced each year with a new top and trousers at a cost of £1000. Tea, coffee and cakes will be available all day.
Sunday 18 June walk
We had a successful June walk to Weston. The weather was kind and the stepping stones were passable giving some people a chance to cross them for the first time.
Burley Summer Festival walks
The Summer Festival walks can be booked online at www.burleysummerfestival.org/, from 17th July. Programmes will be delivered to all Burley households soon. This year we plan to have a waiting list for oversubscribed walks. If you find a walk full when booking on the festival website you will be invited to contact Walkers Are Welcome by email so we can let you know if places become available.
Working party 15 June
Thanks to those who contributed to the working party at Stead on 15 June. We completed everything we intended to do, and more. Richard and Max from Bradford Council helped with digging ditches, Rushy Beck was cleared, two railway sleeper bridges built and there is a new field gate onto Moor Road. The footpath fingerpost on Moor Road has been replaced and across from it there is a temporary footpath sign onto the Moor.
We hope you will have chance to make use of the re-opened routes over the summer. New waymarks are in place:
Further work
A joint working party with Lower Wharfedale Ramblers will be installing a new kissing gate on Menston Old Lane this coming Friday, 7 July.
Yet More Rambles from the Roundhouse - a new walks leaflet
The third Walkers are Welcome leaflet will be published in time for the Summer Festival. Costing £1.50 it will be available at the usual village outlets- Cohens Chemist, the Coffee Station, the Hermit, AM /PM convenience store.
It will also be on sale during the Summer Festival at our stall in the park, next to Salam church, on Sunday 20 August.
Hope to see you during the Festival, otherwise the next Sunday walk is on 17 September.

- The route from Stead Lane starting at the metal gate near to the old holiday cabin is now open although one stile is still to be replaced by the landowner.
- From the new Moor Road field gate to Dog Kennel Farm in Stead the path has been straightened, strimmed and is now mostly dry.
- The previously abandoned path from the Moor Road field gate towards Mount Stead, Ben Rhydding and Clevedon House is passable again now bracken and brambles are cleared.
