Sunday walk on 18 November
This month's walk 5 mile walk will be led by Simon Archer visiting footpaths on the east side of the village towards Otley and Menston. We will head down Station Road to Iron Row and Greenholme Mills, then follow the river path through the meadows. Crossing the A660 we will walk past Launds House Farm, through Otley Golf Course to reach Acre Cliff Farm. Walking through the edge of Menston we will arrive at Bleach Mill for refreshments.
Meet at Burley Station at 10.00 as usual. All welcome, just turn up. Dogs on fixed leads are allowed as long as the owners have the required insurance.
Friday walk on 7 December
Our final 3 mile walk of the year will head up Hag Farm Road to Hag Farm, then along the Ebor Way to Moor Road. We will then use the new Moor Road footpath (assuming it is completed!) to access Stead Lane before returning to Burley along field paths to Scalebor Park. We will aim to arrive at the Red Lion for refreshments around 11.45.
Meet at Burley Station at 10.00 as usual. All welcome, just turn up. Dogs on fixed leads are allowed as long as the owners have the required insurance.
Moor Road footpath working parties
Thank you to the seven people who have volunteered to undertake preparation work for the path this Friday 16 November, and the five people who have offered to help with tree removal on Monday 18 November. We hope the contractor will be working on construction of the path from Monday 25 November.
Otley Walkers Fair 18 November
A final reminder that there is a Walkers Fair at Otley Courthouse from 11am to 4pm. This is organised by Otley Walkers are Welcome to celebrate its 10thanniversary. There will be a number of speakers enticing you with their accounts of long distance paths and walking in different parts of the country and overseas. There will also be a number of stalls of interest to walkers.
Burley Bridge Association fundraising event 17 November 2018
A final call for a folk concert this Saturday 17 November at the Queens Hall, with three of our best local folk groups and performing traditional and contemporary folk music – Yan Tan Tether, Rum Doodle, and Duncan MacFarlane and Anne Brivonesse. A bar will be provided. Tickets cost £10 and are available from the Coffee Station Burley, Just Books Otley,from www.ticketsource.co.uk/burley-bridge-association or on the door.
